How it works

From offer letter to career intelligence in a few simple steps

CTCtruth turns a complex offer letter into clear numbers you can check, quickly and without sending it anywhere.

The four steps

  1. 1

    Upload your offer letter

Drop in the compensation annexure as a PDF or Word file, paste its text, or type the numbers in yourself. The file is read inside your browser tab and never uploaded.

    • PDF, Word (.docx) or pasted text
    • Phone numbers, emails and PAN are masked first
  2. 2

    Extract & understand

Pattern matching finds the CTC, Basic, HRA, allowances, bonuses, PF, gratuity and equity, and shows the exact line each figure came from so you can check it.

    • Understands ₹, INR, Rs., lakh, LPA and crore
    • Anything it can't find stays unknown, never guessed
  3. 3

    Analyze & calculate

It works out your real monthly take-home: income tax under both regimes with the 87A rebate and marginal relief, your PF and professional tax, and whether the CTC adds up.

    • Tax year 2026–27 rules (Income-tax Act, 2025), plus FY 2024–25 and 2025–26
    • Bonuses and equity kept out of monthly pay
  4. 4

    Explore & decide

Compare up to three offers, project four years ahead, see when a switch pays for itself, and get the questions to ask HR before you sign.

    • Saved offers stay in your browser
    • Export a printable brief or a summary

The result

A take-home figure you can check line by line, a clear view of what's cash and what's paper, and the questions to settle before you sign.

Step 2 up close

It shows where each number came from

After reading the letter, the analyzer lists each value it found next to the exact line it came from. Tick what you've checked, correct anything that's wrong, and only then use the values.

Open the offer-letter reader

The offer-letter reader listing each value it found, from total CTC to employer PF, gratuity and the equity grant, next to the exact line in the letter, with tick boxes to confirm each oneThe offer-letter reader listing each value it found, from total CTC to employer PF, gratuity and the equity grant, next to the exact line in the letter, with tick boxes to confirm each one
Step 3 up close

It follows the money down to your bank

The CTC is reconciled component by component. Fixed pay then goes through your PF, professional tax and income tax, so you can see every rupee between the headline and your take-home.

Two breakdowns: what a ₹16 lakh CTC is made of, and how its fixed pay becomes ₹84,436 a month after PF, professional tax and income taxTwo breakdowns: what a ₹16 lakh CTC is made of, and how its fixed pay becomes ₹84,436 a month after PF, professional tax and income tax
The rules it follows

Honest about what it doesn't know

Most calculators fill gaps with defaults and hand you a precise-looking number. CTCtruth doesn't.

Every value shows its source

From the letter, entered by you, derived by a stated rule, assumed, or taken from a sample.

Blank means unknown

An empty field is never quietly treated as ₹0, and unknown parts of the CTC are never counted as salary.

Confidence is shown

Each result says how complete the inputs are and why its confidence is high, medium or low.

No invented defaults

It won't assume PF sits inside the CTC or that Basic is 40% of it. It asks instead.

Where your offer letter goes: nowhere

PDF and Word files are read by code running in your browser tab. Nothing about your offer is sent to a server, there's no sign-up, and saved offers stay in this browser until you delete them.

  • Read on your device
  • No accounts or analytics
